Secret to having a happy customer? Essential oils for prosperity.
Have you experienced a sudden flash of a long lost memory when you smelled a certain scent?
In one study, people were able to recall specific scents with 65% accuracy after an entire year had gone by. When it comes to photos and other visual images, they were only able to recall with 50% accuracy after a year had gone by. Bottom line — if you want people to remember you, you’ve got to tap into the power of scent!
Whether you are an owner of a shop, a yoga studio or a dentist, you want to create the best experience for your customer. Something they will remember and come back for.
But before we talk about scents, there is a huge difference between essential oils and synthetic fragrance. Synthetic fragrances are chemicals, noting to do with nature, and can be very harmful. Really the last thing you want is for your customer to have an asthma attack.
Essential oils on the other hand are chemical compounds found in nature. They are extracted from plants, flowers, trees and roots. They have been used for thousands of years for relaxation, mood management and a form of alternative medicine.
So if you want to tap into your customers’ sense of smell you should use pure essential oils.
Which essential oils are more likely to bring you more business?
It really depends what mood you are trying to create. Maybe something relaxing but uplifting. You don’t want to sedate your customers.
Mood changers - any of the citrus oils are uplifting, invigorating, creating happy minds. Especially Wild Orange is the oil of abundance. Bergamot is a beautiful relaxing oil with that citrusy uplifting aroma. Lemon and Grapefruit are great for focus.
Energy - Peppermint, Rosemary and Eucalyptus are great for creating a sense of energy and focus.
Grounding and relaxing - any tree oils. I love Balance which is a grounding blend. Or Siberian Fir and Douglas Fir. Or Clary Sage and Ylang Ylang have relaxing properties but are more floral.
Not only your store or studio will smell like a spa you are also getting health benefits by diffusing essential oils. Each oil has their own health benefits, but in general essential oils have antiseptic properties to help cleanse the air and fight airborne bacteria.
If you use pure essential oils, a little goes a long way so you only need a few drops to create the vibe your are after that lasts hours.
Aromatherapy probably isn't the first tool you think of to help boost your productivity and grow your business, but maybe it should be.
